About Me
My name is Kaidza Kupata Alexandro and the CEO of Kupsie Ink. I’m a native born Kenyan and I love fashion – especially designers that celebrate the rich heritage of my homeland. I am extremely fortunate to have been able to win a full scholarship to pursue my Bachelors of Science in Biology degree in the United States and have also earned an MBA from the Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA. After working as a Securities Analyst for a Fortune 500 company in Maryland USA -and gaining some very invaluable experience and insight to the corporate culture- coupled with a few eye opening encounters with Kenyan tailoring and fashion entrepreneurs locally known as fundis, I founded Kupsie Ink.
Kupsie Ink is a social enterprise seeking to improve the standards of tailoring and fashion industry in Kenya and East Africa by providing an online marketing platform, training, and apprenticeship opportunities to budding fashion entrepreneurs. We also seek to support the established bespoke fashion businesses to scale up and increase their production and ultimately their returns.
I have a burning desire to leverage my passion, professional and life experience in helping others in my country, and continent find their own paths towards success. This has led me to dedicate over 11 years of my life researching and studying the fashion and textile landscape to gain a keen understanding of some of the biggest problems facing the fashion and textile industry today. For me, every successful fundi that Kupsie Ink empowers is ultimately an entrepreneurial, cultural and personal victory.
We are working to improve the quality and delivery of every bespoke fashion item in Kenya by Raising the Base; while supporting and nurturing young talent, we will establish a strong foundation upon which their fashion business will lay.
I feel strongly that being a fundi is far more than a forgettable side hustle. It is a noble, empowering profession that can provide sustainable income to hard working men and women across Africa who simultaneously preserve an important aspect of our common culture.
